Leo and Emily's Big Ideas

These titles were first published in 1982, so I wasn't sure whether the current 5-7 year-olds in my class would relate to the antics of Leo and Emily, their dialogue and the modestly coloured illustrations. However, they did! They listened quite avidly to Leo and Emily's middle of the night discourse, and found their desire to scare quite natural. What's so refreshing is their spontaneity and ingenuity which create lively, humorous adventures, true to the lives of any friends who buzz with ideas of things to do. These tales are perfectly childlike, certainly infectious and develop confidence in children wanting to read for themselves.
