That Spells Magic
The range of authors here is impressive and many of the poems are mind-expanding and full of rich language. Humour is a major emphasis with just a seasoning of the shivers but it is noticeable that the poems about bad magic are far more interesting than those about fairies and elves. It seems impossible for the twee to be eliminated from the latter - a pity because the potential for the unearthly and mysterious in fairies is just as great ('How beautiful they are, the lordly ones'). Still, generally, this is an enriching collection.
