This cheerful picture book is the perfect explanation for adopted children as to how they came to be a member of a new family. In rhyming couplets and soft, stylised graphics, we meet the Teazles, a bunny couple, happy except for the fact they have no baby bunny. Their joy at hearing that one will be forthcoming, their preparations for the baby, their sharing of the good news with their friends, and the arrival of the baby (gender not specified), all are pictured cheerfully. ‘And from that day on, by the sycamore tree, the Teazles were happy as happy could be.’ A booklet for parents explaining ways of using the book with children, whether adopted or not, is included.
