In this short first person rhyming narrative a small girl shares her thoughts about the various kinds of dogs she does not want before finally revealing her ideal canine pet. Despite its brevity and large print presentation, the text is quite challenging and new readers may find it difficult to release the rhythm of the words.

More easy to enjoy independently are the simply drawn, large, cut-out collage and mixed media illustrations of the posh poodle, speedy greyhound, growly rottweiler, wheezy bulldog and the rest.
