Happy Birthday x 3
David Cox
The triplets are eagerly anticipating their forthcoming birthday but are worried about getting presents for each other, as they have no money. They earn it by tidying their room in their own particular way in the morning – and then Mum helps them tidy outdoors in her own particular way in the afternoon. Eventually the birthday comes, and although their presents do not quite have the initially desired reactions, the party is the best they have ever had. Gleeson is well aware of how children interact, and readers will enjoy the book for its realistic but humorous take on life. I particularly enjoyed her handling of disappointment with presents, and look forward to reading more from her.
