Don't Look Back!
Tony Ross
Our four heroes are now on a school trip to London with the rest of their classmates. Nothing too unusual happens until Well’ard attempts to shoplift; and then the fun begins. Separated from the rest of the class, they bump into Orpheus in the Underground (where else!), and help him to find Eurydice. En route they encounter other characters from Ancient Greece, with the two Steves’ usual trademark style of hilarity, chaos and general knowledge intersecting with the probable and utterly improbable. Hades and Persephone as ageing and carpet slippered individuals I found particularly hilarious, and Tony Ross captured this wickedly in his illustrations. Having to teach certain historical topics over and over again can sometimes get tedious, but books like this with their elements of satire woven in seamlessly make the teacher or librarian’s job that much more pleasurable. Well worth getting!
