The partnership of Willis and Ross (Tadpole's Promise, I Hate School etc) issues a plea for a little peace and quiet in a cacophonous world. This is voiced by an inconspicuous shrew, who, having discovered the secret of peace on Earth, strives to share his wisdom with the stridently toiling, travelling and warring creatures who populate these lively pages. The secret is very simple, and consists of simply getting people to shut up and listen to nothing in particular for a while. I wish there were more books like this about, communicating a similar message as effectively to a range of ages. This one puts the point across in less than two hundred words and nine eventful double spreads. The contrast between the front and back endpapers visually summarises the text very concisely.
